Bardiya National Park is by far the largest protected area in the lowland terai of Central West Nepal, the Khata corridor connects Bardiya National park to Banke National Park in east and Katarniyaghat WLS of India in the west. This beautiful jungle has four major forest type - Riverine in the east and southern part, Broadleaf Evergreen in the south and middle, mixed montane and fourth type is Sub alpine in the north. The culture of the area dates back to the time when Tharu people, the nomadic migrants from Thar desert settled here. The area was ruled by Shah kings, who have Rajput origin. Their knowledge of forest, forestry and usage of natural resources help to manage community forest in a sustainable way. The chances of sighting a tiger in this forest are very high and apart from that one can find, asiatic Elephants, One-horned Rhino, Otters, Gangetic Dolphins etc, the major wild residents of the forest.
In the first tour itself we listed 180 birds in just four days and we were lucky enough to behold the magnificent movement of his majesty ! (The Tiger).
This vast nature reserve has a lot to offer to the birders and nature lovers, it is worth giving a chance to behold the lovely avian fauna of this place. The tour will be led by an experienced naturalist and photographer from team GoingWild, to make sure that your bird list becomes strong and stout and this trip generates a myriad of good quality photographs of birds. Note: For this tour, we shall pick up our tour participants from Lucknow city before the commencement of the tour and shall drop them off at Lucknow city after the completion of the tour. So participants are requested to reach Lucknow city one day prior to the commencement of the tour and stay overnight at any hotel in Lucknow. Participants can call us also for flight suggestions and for overnight accomodation in Lucknow.
