The Tour At A Glance
Bandhavgarh needs little introduction when we are talking about Tigers in India. Located in Umaria district of Madhya Pradesh state. The name Bandhavgarh was first given to the most prominent hillock of the area by Lord Rama, the hero of one of our epics i.e. The Ramayana. People believe that when Ravana abducted Sita, lord Rama was passing through these woods in search of her and asked his brother, Lakshmana to keep an eye on Lanka from the top of the hillock, still present, Bandhavgarh, in english means Brother's Fort. Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve can boast of being one of the tiger parks in India having higher tiger density. The park, coupled with its unique ecosystem, very healthy big cat density and a very good inter-connectivity of vehicle tracks help increase the chances of sighting a tiger many folds compared to a lot of other parks in India. This has made the park a popular destination for wildlife lovers who seek the chance of a sighting of this majestic cat in the wild. Such was the popularity of this park that at one point of time Charger (a dominant male tiger) and Sita (one of the most photographed tigresses in wild) became common household names.
According to the understanding of our Tour mentor
We call it The Tiger Central Of India. Far-flung and in and out coverage of zones like Tala, Magdhi and Khitauli is included and is necessary because these are the potential zones where we might get a chance to experience the generosity of His majesty. Not only the legendary cat that rules the forest but also we might stumbleupon other animals of this incredible, largely biodiverse forest like leopards, various species of deer, wild boar, sloth bear, some lesser cats, dholes, jackals, fox, many bird species etc.
The King On The Prowl
Imagine you are in Bandhavgarh, this is your first forest experience maybe and your eyes catch the sight of a tiger which stealthily, camouflaging like a master, undetected ....approaches its prey and at a striking distance it freezes to take the final leap, the leap of hope for one and death for the other.. the prey, completely unaware of the moves of the tiger happily grazes around and moves towards its death which waits patiently, just behind the thicket, for it to come closer as it will, it turns and baaaammmm! the moment of Impact... How will you feel? We are hopeful that this pivotal moment will reshape your notion of what is possible in the wild.
Watching a tiger in the wild, in itself is an amazing thing, the cherry on the cake being the chance to witness a tiger camouflage, its burning bright eyes and of course essentially its hunting mode.
The store house of mother nature is so overwhelming that it never fails to astound us, the activities of animals, their lives, the hardships they go through, the world of the hunter and the hunted is so well balanced and harmonious that it gives rise to some of the awe-inspiring moments which we enjoy, capture them in beautiful photographs and praise.
